ArtCraft download: which file do you need?

ArtCraft Studio (the AI app)

The studio is a separate download from the Craft apps. Get it from getartcraft.com/download — the buttons there point at the same files as GitHub. Current version: 0.41.0 (Sep 26, 2026).

System requirements (official): Windows 10 64-bit or newer, or macOS 12 or newer · 8 GB RAM recommended · 2 GB free space. There's no Linux version of the studio.

After installing, the studio asks you to create a free account or sign in before you can generate anything.

How to install

Mac

1. Open the .dmg you downloaded.
2. Drag PhotoCraft onto the Applications folder.
3. Open it from Applications. macOS asks once whether you want to open an app downloaded from the internet — click Open. Because the app is notarized by Apple, you won't hit the "cannot be verified" block, and there's no right-click workaround to learn.

Windows

1. Run the .msi. If SmartScreen says "Windows protected your PC", check the publisher, then choose More info › Run anyway only if you downloaded it from GitHub or getartcraft.com.
2. Follow the installer, then open PhotoCraft from the Start menu.
3. Using the portable .zip instead? Unzip it anywhere and run PhotoCraft.exe.

We haven't run the Windows installer ourselves yet; these are the standard steps.

Linux

• AppImage: chmod +x photocraft-0.8.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage then ./photocraft-0.8.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage
• Debian / Ubuntu: sudo apt install ./photocraft-0.8.2-linux-x86_64.deb
• Fedora / openSUSE: sudo dnf install ./photocraft-0.8.2-linux-x86_64.rpm (or zypper install)
• Flatpak: flatpak install --user photocraft-0.8.2-linux-x86_64.flatpak

Build from source (for developers): PhotoCraft needs Rust 1.90 or newer.

Check the file is genuine (SHA-256)

Every Craft app release on GitHub includes a file called SHA256SUMS.txt. It lists a fingerprint for each download. If your file's fingerprint matches, it's the real one — nobody tampered with it on the way.

1. Download SHA256SUMS.txt from the same release page.
2. Run the command for your system on the file you downloaded:
   • Mac: shasum -a 256 photocraft-0.8.2-macos-universal.dmg
   • Windows (PowerShell or Command Prompt): certutil -hashfile photocraft-0.8.2-windows-x64.msi SHA256
   • Linux: sha256sum photocraft-0.8.2-linux-x86_64.AppImage
3. Compare the long string it prints with the matching line in SHA256SUMS.txt. They must be identical.

Is getartcraft.com the official site?

Yes. getartcraft.com is ArtCraft's official website, and storytold on GitHub is its official code home — the official site links to both. Those are the only two places to download from.

If any other site offers its own ArtCraft download button, skip it — there's no reason to take the file second-hand. ArtCraft Tutorial never hosts installers — every download button on this site goes straight to GitHub or getartcraft.com.

All PhotoCraft 0.8.2 files

26 files in one release, because PhotoCraft builds for every major desktop. You need exactly one.

The PhotoCraft page on getartcraft.com still lists version 0.7.0 at the time of writing; GitHub has 0.8.2. Both are official — GitHub is simply newer.
